The Higher Population Council meets with Irada Party to discuss the current demographic situation of the population in Jordan

Professor Dr. Issa Al-Masarwa, HPC Secretary-General, met on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 with His Excellency Mr. Nidal Al-Batayneh, Irada Party Secretary-General. Attending the meeting also were a number of party members: Dr. Najwa Qubailat, Dr. Muhammad Al-Atiyat, Mr. Khaldoun Al-Khashman, Dr. Amjad Al-Attar, Mr. Tariq Obaidat, and Dr. Muhammad Al-Tarawneh, Mrs. Iman Bani Mufarrej, Dr. Abdullah Daradkeh, Mr. Amjad Al-Maslamani, Mrs. Badriya Al-Bilbisi, Mr. Osama Al-Azzam, Mr. Ibrahim Al-Awaran, Mrs. Rula Al-Hayari, Mrs. May Alian, Mrs. Al-Anoud Abu Hammour, Mr. Zaid Al-Atoum, Mr. Jamal Arshoud, Mr. Fawzi Asaad , Mrs. Ghadeer Nofal, Dr. Muhannad Al-Nsour, Mrs. Yusser Hassan, Mr. Ayman Al-Kanji, Dr. Laith Al-Qahwi, Mrs. Rania Al-Hunaidi.

During the meeting, Dr. Masarwa briefed the audience on the current demographic and family scene in Jordan and its current and projected impacts on all sectors and Jordanian needs. Dr. Masarwa highlighted the importance the parties hold in their contribution to achieve comprehensive national development and address societal issues and challenges.

HPC's initiative to hold meetings with the political parties stems from the Council’s strong desire that parties need to include, within their programs, development issues and challenges related to the demographic situation.

On his part, Secretary-General of the Irada Party, His Excellency Mr. Nidal Al-Batayneh, commended HPC’ s concern in demographic issues and putting them up for consideration by party members. Mr. Batayneh stressed the importance of focusing on these issues and taking supportive decisions at the highest state level in a way  that would reflect positively on society in general.                                    An interactive discussion took place during the course of the meeting where Dr. Masarwa addressed questions and queries brought forth by the audience .

This meeting comes within HPC work plan for the year 2024, which includes holding meetings with Jordanian political parties to review the demographic scene in Jordan and exchange ideas about ways to encounter the challenges relevant to this scene. Through these dialogue meetings, HPC seeks to keep political parties well informed of the most recent and expected demographic changes in Jordan and the impact they have on all social, economic and environmental sectors and needs. It is to be noted that all these efforts are encompassed under the enactment and fulfilment of the royal vision calling for communication, coordination and cooperation between governmental, official institutions and civil state institutions
